If The End of 2020 Has You seeing Red and Blue, call 225-229-7218!

Updated: Dec 28, 2020

Everyone is going to be happy to see 2020 in the rearview mirror. But overindulgence in the alcoholic beverage of your choice before taking to the road will have you seeing another unwelcome thing in the rear view mirror-flashing red and blue lights. This is NOT something Bad Boyz Bail Bonds wants you to see!

Overindulgence happens, especially on New Year's Eve. According to the NY Times blog wheels, usually half of fatal crashes on New Year's Eve are related to drunk driving, and most occur after midnight.

Here is a list of the fines and penalties for DWI in Louisiana:

DWI First Offense Administrative Penalties

  • Driving privileges suspended for up to 1 year.

  • Driver's license reinstatement fee: $100

  • Proof of financial responsibility for 3 years after date of conviction

DWI Second Offense Administrative Penalties

  • Driving privileges suspended for up to 2 years.

  • Driver's license reinstatement fee: $200

  • Proof of financial responsibility for 3 years after date of conviction

Criminal Penalties

  • Mandatory 48 hours in jail.

  • Up to 6 months of additional jail time.

  • Fined up to $1,000, in addition to court costs.

DWI Third Offense Administrative Penalties

  • Driving privileges suspended for up to 3 years.

Criminal Penalties

  • Minimum 1 year in jail.

  • Up to 5 years in prison.

  • Possible home confinement.

  • Fined up to $2,000, in addition to court costs.

  • Possible loss of vehicle.

  • 4 weeks in an inpatient substance abuse program, plus 4 weeks in an outpatient substance abuse program

Obviously the best way to avoid these penalties is not to drink and drive. But it can be hard to tell how much is too much. If you find yourself on the wrong end of the handcuffs, remember to call 225-229-7218. Bad Boyz Bail Bonds is open 24-7, with locations throughout Louisiana.

You can get into problems other than drunk driving. Cautioning revelers about the dangers of celebratory gunfire on New Year's Eve is a must every year, according to law enforcement, not only because it could be deadly, but also because shooting a gun into the air is a crime. We here at Bad Boyz Bail Bonds think shooting a gun into the air is insanely foolish, dangerous, and a waste of good ammunition. But insanely foolish things happen on New Year's Eve, and if it happens to you, remember 225-229-7218.

Because your mama wants you home!
